EVESHAM'S Sue Cosnett was crowned British Veterans Judo champion at Norwich.

A member of the Samurai Club in Kidd-erminster, Sue followed up her bronze medal triumph at the World Masters with another brilliant display to lift the light-middleweight (under-63kg) title.

Impressive groundwork was the key factor as the Vale ace booked a place in the final but she still had it all to do against probably Britain's toughest veteran - a five-times world champion who hadn't lost for several years at veteran level.

However, Sue and her coach Andrew Haffner worked out a good tactical approach and she soon had her opponent under sufficient pressure for her to conceded a penalty.

That domination continued and the prestigious championship was soon winging its way back to Worcestershire with Sue the proud owner of a gold medal.
