PRINCIPAL trombonist with the famous Black Dyke Band, Brett Baker, will be the guest soloist at Avonbank Brass Band concert at the Arts Centre, Evesham, on Sunday, November 2.
Brett, who hails from Gloucestershire and started playing at the age of 10, was a finalist in the BBC's Young Musician of the Year, a finalist in the British Open Solo Championships in 1992 and 1993, becoming trombone solo champion in 1993 and 1994.
He established a reputation as one of the finest players of his generation, and while with the famous William's Fairey Band he won the British Open, the National and European Championships, the North West Area and the All England Masters between 1993 and 1996.
He also won the Brass in Concert entertainment at Spennymoor, in 1996, where he was the featured soloist.
In the same year he was awarded performer of the year at Fairey's for his achievements as a soloist.
