CLEOBURY Mortimer firsts had to cancel their North Midlands One clash at Redditch due to an injury crisis among the front row.

But the seconds were able to put out a team and managed a creditable display, losing 12-13 at home to Tenbury.

The experienced visitors were denied by excellent defence before breaking through mid-way through the first half with an unconverted try.

But Cleobury stunned Tenbury by taking the lead soon after when several players combined to put in fly-half Julian Harding who escaped his tacklers to score between the posts.

Nigel Williams converted to give them a 7-5 interval advantage but an infringement gave a penalty chance for their opponents to forge ahead again.

A lack of concentration following a clearance saw a quick line-out give Tenbury a second try.

Number eight Simon Dawson did respond with a score of his own but Williams just missed the conversion from near the touch-line.
