WE are writing over the possible closure of Bayton Church of England Primary School under the review of Wyre Forest education.

The school is situated on a rural site with very modern facilities in the classrooms, and lovely grounds for the children's outdoor activities.

We currently have three children attending the school.

Our children have obviously varying abilities, academically and socially.

Due to the school's excellent ethos, which we attribute to a very professional and capable teaching staff, we believe our children's individual needs are fulfilled.

Bayton School is currently in the two-tier system, which we both favour.

We believe a three-tier system would be too disruptive for our children.

Another point raised in the review, which would affect us dramatically, is the distance the children have to travel to school.

At the moment the school is in walking distance, about a mile from home.

If the school were to close, my children would be looking at a journey of about five miles, which I believe is against all current Government policies, as walking and cycling would be out of the question.

As parents we are supposed to be able to choose the school we wish our children to attend. With all the proposed school closures, we will have no choice.

Bayton School, we believe, stands for everything that the review tells us it is hoping to achieve. How can it even be considered for closure?
