ON Friday, my wife and I attended a Bewdley Festival Fringe event at Bewdley Baptist Church, featuring the Valentines.

As usual they gave an excellent performance.

The highlight of the evening was singer Russell Painter who attends the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.

In 2002 he played the part of Marius in the West End show Les Miserables, and treated us to songs from that show, Cabaret, and other musicals.

He will shortly be appearing with the Kidderminster Choral Society, and we believe it will not be too long before his dream of becoming a professional singer comes true.
