Dave Close's enterprising opening play had his opponent foxed but Gerald Link was somewhat fortunate to defeat Stafford captain Andrew Leadbetter.
Brian Sharp engineered a winning attack against former Kidderminster player Gerald Acey.
The winning margin could have been greater as Jim Friar allowed himself to be checkmated while in a winning position.
