CYCLING: Joe Rowe turned his attention to cyclo-cross after impressing in his first full track racing season in recent years.
The Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club member was best veteran in the Halesowen Track League, winning the trophy in categories A and B.
Rowe, also second in the league overall, went on to the National Trophy Cyclo-Cross Series first round on Sunday.
He was sixth in the over-50s age group and 26th overall in the 18.5km veteran race at Pitville Park, Cheltenham.
Meanwhile, Stourport's Liam Preece got off to an encouraging start in his first open race as a junior.
In the Weaver Valley road race in Cheshire, he was 15th in the five-mile race, five seconds behind the overall winner.
Preece and Rowe team up in the Warwickshire CC two-up time trials over 10 and 25 miles in Wythall this weekend.
