AN all-round spectacle greeted those who stepped back in time courtesy of the 18th Century Concert Orchestra on Sunday.
St Anne's Church in Bewdley - itself completed in 1738 - provided the fitting candle-lit venue for the musicians dressed in their handmade period finery.
The baroque pieces - including famous works from Handel and JS Bach - were delicately played on authentic violins accompanied by a viola, cello, double bass, oboe and harpsichord.
And the singing after the interval was exquisite.
The music was punctuated sometimes with humorous excerpts on the composers and the role of the main players in the orchestra but the rich atmosphere and sublime music alone were enough to make the evening something special. FA
