FARMERS and producers have been given the go-ahead to take over the running of the farmers' market in Malvern - and so become more self-sufficient.
The popular event has been held every third Saturday at the Malvern Hills District Council house in Avenue Road, since August 1999.
However, on Saturday, October 18, it will be the first one where the producers have taken over the role of market operators from EG Skett and Co.
Exciting
It is anticipated the move will help make the farmers and producers more financially independent whereas previously they needed the help of grants.
"This is an exciting new step for us and we're very grateful for the support of Malvern Hills District Council," said Janet Yates, co-ordinator for Worcestershire Farmers' Market Group.
"The producers who attend Malvern farmers market are very much committed to this new role, and we know we can rely on the support of our regular customers."
