Pershore 13, Aston University 1

PERSHORE started their second Coaching Solutions League game showing good composure as they made Aston chase the ball all over the park.

The breakthrough came midway through the first half after a fine move involving Russell Scudamore, Matt Hughes and Toby Whiting.

That was the catalyst for a feast of goals at the High School and it was 4-0 at half-time.

The first 15 minutes of the second half saw Pershore take complete command and a series of high speed and good passing moves allied to fine shooting saw six more goals added.

Aston did snatch a consolation from a short corner but this only inspired Pershore to push on and three more goals were netted as the students tired.

The goals were shared around with Whiting scoring four, Scudamore hit a hat-trick, while Hughes, James Rayner, Stewart Speake and Peter Boyce all bagged one apiece.

The second division leaders, though, will expect a far trickier test at relegated Market Drayton on Saturday.

Pershore III 2, Bloxwich III 2

A BOOKING mix-up over meant that this game had to start on a bumpy grass pitch and finish on the Astroturf.

The more experienced Pershore players agreed to take great care when hitting the ball as Bloxwich fielded several younger players who were inexperienced on grass.

This meant that they were denied the opportunity to make their experience count and were disappointed to finish the half only 2-1 to the good thanks to a debut goal from Pugh and a fine short corner strike from Mike Handley.

The match then moved to the artificial surface where the youthfulness of the Bloxwich side meant that they were able to set up several opportunities that eventually led to an equaliser.

Pershore carried on pressing for the winner, but woeful finishing denied Pershore the three points that they deserved.
