A REDDITCH county councillor will be putting herself at the mercy of students in a web-based interactive game based on hit TV show I'm A Celebrity - Get Me Out Of Here!
Betty Passingham is one of five county councillors taking part in the game, which has been designed to get young
people involved in local democracy by giving them the chance to interact electronically with their local councillors.
I'm A Councillor - Get Me Out Of Here is being run by the county council as part of activities during Local Democracy Week this week.
This year's theme is Listening to Tomorrow's Voters Today and eight schools have signed up, including Trinity High School.
A county council spokesman said: "Young people are really interested in local issues so this is a chance for councillors to find out what their views are.
"The councillors will post their personal manifestos on a specially constructed website accessible only to county schools and will answer students' questions.
"If the going gets too tough, a quick escape button lets the volunteers say 'I'm a councillor, get me out of here'."
Mrs Passingham said: "It will be a challenge to see what kind of questions the students come up with and whether I can answer them."
