CHILDREN from Astwood Bank First School are taking part in Elgar-thon, a sponsored performance of Land of Hope and Glory which will set a new record for the largest number of youngsters performing the same piece in one week.
Elgar-thon launches the Coins 4 Notes appeal, a joint campaign run by The Elgar Birthplace and Sargent Cancer Care for Children.
Money raised will secure the future of The Elgar Birthplace, now an important musical education centre near Worcester, and provide funds for Sargent's music therapy programme for children with cancer.
The school will be performing Elgar's famous tune with its original words - those written for Elgar's Coronation Ode.
