A REDDITCH soldier will be able to indulge her passion for music every day and look forward to playing at ceremonial occasions all over the world.

Former Arrow Vale High School pupil Danni Murrow, 22, has joined the Corps of Army Music, one of the biggest musical organisations in the world.

A member of the Band of the Dragoon Guards, based at Robertson Barracks, Swanton Morley, Pte Murrow has been playing musical instruments, including the saxophone, flute and clarinet, since she was seven.

A former member of the Midlands Youth Wind Orchestra, she had to audition for the Royal Military School of Music to become an army musician.

"I was very nervous but the interview panel put me at ease and it was a great experience," she said.

Pte Murrow then went on to complete phase one of her military training, learning skills like map reading and first aid, how to handle and fire a weapon and fieldcraft, including how to build a shelter.

She said: "The training was brilliant. It helped me improve my stamina and fitness."

Pte Murrow's long-term ambitions are to become a conductor and to play with clarinettist Eddie Daniels.

"My biggest musical influence has to be the conductor Sir Simon Rattle.

"I admire his style of conducting and his communicative nature.

"I would like to be a conductor like him one day and I would also love to play with Eddie Daniels - he's the best clarinet player - have every heard."
