THE first event of the autumn programme was a visit to Cadbury World.

On September 11, a warm welcome as given to Judy Berrow, county organiser for the National Gardens Scheme in Worcestershire.

Judy's talk, illustrated with slides, was most interesting and leaflets were distributed with details of the 60 gardens open in the county.

The National Garden Scheme is a charitable trust which gives valuable help to various nursing associations.

On September 25, Bob Woolridge spoke about the RNLI.

Since it was founded in 1924, lifeboats have saved more than 135,000 lives.

A total of 227 lifeboat stations are on call to provide the 24-hour service necessary to cover search and rescue requirements up to 50 miles out from the coast of the UK and Ireland.

The RNLI is a registered charity and depends entirely on voluntary contributions and legacies.
