PUPILS at St Augustine's High School will have a weekly chance to talk in confidence to a police officer about any issues which may be concerning them.
Crabbs Cross officer Pc Richard Waterhouse will be holding sessions in the Stonepits Lane school every Thursday to discuss certain problems the youngsters may be faced with.
The school has its own intranet site and Pc Waterhouse will be setting up a page on it where he can write messages and post information.
Pupils will also be able to leave messages on it for him.
The library will also have a rack with leaflets tackling a wide range of police-related issues from which the youngsters can get information and a postbox where they can ask questions anonymously.
Pc Waterhouse said: "The youngsters can come and talk to me about anything they want, whether this be drug concerns, bullying or anything which is worrying them and I could possibly give them advice on.
"There may be youngsters who are slightly nervous about talking to the police face to face so they can ask a question through the postbox or include it on the police page on the school's intranet facility and they will remain completely anonymous.
"We're not sure how the sessions will work. It could either be on a one-to-one basis or in small groups - it all depends on how many people take up the opportunity to talk to the police."
