A LADIES golf team from Droitwich has taken maximum points in winning a league title and play-off.
Droitwich Golf Club ladies team defeated all seven other teams to finish top of the Droitwich Ladies Inter-Club League Division A for the third year running last month.
They then defeated Division B winners Worcester to land the play-off at Sapey GC in September.
But, despite their title record, it was third time lucky for the Ford Lane club side in the play-off after defeat to Redditch and Kings Norton in 2001 and 2002 respectively.
Non-playing captain Veronica Pickering said: "We were absolutely tense when we got there because we thought we could lose this again but they came up trumps.
"They had to fight quite hard for it and it was like we had won the Solheim Cup in the end."
Droitwich's winning team were presented with their shield at the league's annual general meeting on Thursday, October 2.
