ALL the dreams of a motorbike mad ten-year-old came true when he met his sporting idol just a week after he had his own scramble bike pinched.

Paul Masters is still on cloud nine after meeting Jeremy McGrath - the most successful Supercross Series champion of all time, on Saturday.

Along with his dad Ian, Paul was invited to meet Jeremy and see him race in the Future West Round One Supercross Series, at the Hallam FM Arena in Sheffield

The VIP day was organised by your No.1 Community Newspaper and Newsquest Digital Media, who decided to come to the rescue of the heartbroken youngster.

The Witton Middle School student was featured on the front page of last week's Advertiser/Messenger after his beloved scramble bike was stolen.

Heartless thieves pinched equipment worth more than £1,000 from his grandmother's garage in Grafton Lane, Bromgrove, next to the track where he regularly races.

Before Saturday's races got underway Paul, who lives with his mum Annette in Droitwich Spa, was taken to meet the champion Jeremy

His dad Ian said: "In spite of having to prepare for the race I was moved that Jeremy took the time to come out especially to meet and talk to Paul. He shook his hand and I was able to take a photograph.

"We then watched the races, which Paul absolutely loved. It was great to see him cheering for Jeremy and having so much fun after what has happened."

Ian, of Redditch, added: "Thank you for the magical memories, which will stay with him for the rest of his life."

Zena Clarke, web content producer for Newsquest Digital Media in Worcester, helped organise the trip. She said: "After seeing last week's Advertiser/Messenger front page I thought I could contact the organisers of the event to see if Newsquest could help bring some happiness back to Paul." The Advertiser/Messenger is part of the Newsquest group of papers.
