A PROLIFIC Bromsgrove fundraiser, who has generated more than half a million pounds for charity, has been named our Citizen of the Month.

Nicole Harris, of Redditch Road, Stoke Heath, was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers courtesy of The Fresh Flower Company and in conjunction with the Advertiser/Messenger.

Nicole is a well-known community figure and has been responsible for organising hundreds of money spinning events in aid of Leukaemia Research over the last 16 years.

She became involved with the charity in 1989 when her son Marc died of leukaemia at the age of nine. She is chairman of the Bromsgrove and district branch of the fund and annually organises the fun-run and bikeathon, as well as many other events.

Nicole is also a full-time teacher of her mother tongue French at the Mount School in Birmingham Road.

"My life really is non-stop. I organise about one fundraising event per month," said Nicole.

John Rudge, of The Fresh Flower Company in Mill Lane, presented Nicole with the bouquet at the Advertiser/Messenger offices on Monday afternoon. "I am absolutely delighted to have been named Citizen of the Month. It is so nice to have my hard work recognised," she said.

If you would like to nominate someone in the community for a forthcoming Good Citizen of the Month award send your nominations, along with reasons to The Editor, Advertiser/Messenger, 5 High Street, Bromsgrove B61 8AJ, and that person could win the next bouquet.
