THE annual general meeting of Chaddesley Corbett WI was held on October 1 at the village hall.

The evening started with the singing of Jerusalem followed by the business of the evening, including the results of the collection for pennies for friendship appeal and announcements of forthcoming events.

Members Liz Rowley and Jo Powick talked about their experiences at Denman having won the bursaries provided by the CCWI. They both agreed it had been a wonderful experience and encouraged all members to go and enjoy the wonderful facilities provided.

The AGM followed with the year's reports provided by secretary Maureen McCallum, treasurer Marion Richards and president Barbara Maskell.

The president thanked many members for their various contributions over the year, especially her committee who had been so supportive. The new committee members appointed are Jean Andrews, Barbara Evans, Judy Kirkpatrick, Teresa Forguil-Jenkin, Nancy James, Maureen McCallum, Judy Probert, Rosemary Reynolds, Joyce Roulton, Bridget Smally and Marion Richards.

Barbara Maskell was elected president for the second year.

The election of the committee and president was overseen by WIA Sylvia Perkins.

Liz Cornish, from WI house, informed us about the library which contains a collection of handicrafts. Some of which are on loan from all over the county for two years. She also showed us individual items she had brought along from part of the collection.

The meeting ended with Sylvia Perkins reading a poem called Time and Liz Rowley reading a poem called Joyce the Librarian, which caused much amusement.

Social time with coffee/tea and biscuits completed a very successful and enjoyable evening.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 5, in the village hall.
