THE apprenticeship has taken on a new lease of life at a Redditch engineering company which has recently seen two success stories.
Mettis Aerospace, formerly HDA Forgings, in Windsor Road, only reintroduced apprenticeships in 1996.
But the training scheme has proved to be worth the time and effort and last week employees Mark Hawthorn, 22, and Anthony Ricketts, 23, both completed their five-year Advanced Modern Apprenticeship.
Mark, from Rubery, has learnt his trade as a toolmaker for the Aerofoils Division and completed a CNC course to add to his NVQ Level 3 in engineering production.
Anthony, from Winyates East, has gained an HNC in engineering, an NVQ level 4 in manufacturing engineering and has completed a Certificate in Management course at NEW College.
