DROITWICH Spa Hockey Club Men's Third XI began their first ever season in the West Midlands Premier League with a hard fought 1-0 win at Solihull and Blossomfield.
Spa started strongly and dominated the first half with Paul Woodward giving them the lead, and ultimately the winner, from close range following a penalty corner.
The second half was a much more even contest and Spa had more chances to extend their lead before having to defend stubbornly in the final quarter as Solihull and Blossomfield pressed for an equaliser.
LUCY Hine scored twice as Droitwich Spa Hockey Club Ladies Second XI earned their second league win of the season with an impressive 4-1 victory at Old Silhillians.
Spa came from behind with Hine's goals as well as one each for Gemma Darbyshire and Gwen Smith, returning to action following a long injury lay off. Smith and Hine shared player of the match.
