BROMSGROVE Hockey Club Men's First XI recorded their first victory of the season with a 5-3 away success at Yardley.
Bromsgrove, beaten 7-2 at home by Stone last week, came back from 2-0 down to win.
Captain Julian Court said: "It's good to get some points on the board. We didn't win in pre-season and it shows that we can compete in the league as the first week was a bit demoralising.
"We must make sure we don't rest on our laurels and think we have cracked it after one game."
Court also believes last week's 7-2 loss was put into perspective with Stone's 2-1 defeat of Droitwich Spa last Saturday.
He said: "Droitwich will be a good side in this league so it shows Stone are a good side."
After a lazy start, which saw Court's side trail 2-0, Markus Veith fired in a goal to reduce the deficit at half time.
Veith then added the equaliser from a penalty corner before the hosts edged ahead from a similar move.
Nick Frizzell brought the sides level once again before Bromsgrove pulled away with goals from Sean Jackson and Fabian Samwer.
