AN extra house on Kempsey's Bannut Hill would add to the access problems for residents in the other 12 homes, parish councillors heard.

One of the residents, Judith Yeomans, said the households had shared access on the potholed, bumpy lane, which is unadopted.

"Some have to reverse back down and when delivery vans stop in the lane outside a house, everyone else has to wait," she said.

Although she appreciated that the amended application for a detached house adjacent to 2 Bannut Hill had addressed concerns raised by the initial application, Mrs Yeomans was concerned that the side wall of the new house would totally block the light from her north-facing dining room.

No objections

"We are also perturbed about its closeness to the boundary," she said, during a "democratic half hour" before Monday night's meeting of Kempsey Parish Council.

Planning chairman David Harrison later said members had no objections to the plan in principle, but had reservations about the access via an unadopted track.

They were also worried that the sewerage system was not capable of servicing further properties and wanted all spoil from the site to be removed, to avoid increasing the height of the new building.

Members wanted to see more details of dimensions and distances on submitted plans, pointing out that red lines on the plan had obliterated the boundary markings.
