PUPILS at Eldersfield Lawn CE School have returned to a new classroom constructed over the summer holidays.
The school has spent close to £15,000 on building work and new equipment for reception and year one children.
The reception classroom was formerly an activity area for the other classes, but as the school population grew it was screened off and used for teaching.
Now the area has been converted into a proper room, with new furniture on its way.
New interactive electronic whiteboards have also been installed in every classroom, at a cost of about £12,000. The money came from a Government devolved capital grant.
Headteacher Lynn Gill said the school now looked great.
"It's improved the appearance, the new classroom was all decorated to match the rest of the school. The children think it's lovely," she said.
