MORE than a ton of premium dog food was nabbed by thieves who struck at a specialist pet food suppliers in Kidderminster.
Now dog-owners are being urged to stay on their guard in case the haul turns up at car boot sales, markets and other outlets. Sam Dowling at Wyre Forest Pet Food with replacement stock brought in following the break-in.
The unusual haul - worth an estimated £3,500 - was taken in a break-in at Wyre Forest Pet Foods.
The dried foods - including brands like Nutro, Purina Pro-Plan, Eukanba, Iams, James Wellbeloved and Royal Canin - were stolen sometime on Thursday night from the premises at Hoobrook Enterprise Centre, off Worcester Road.
Owner Mike Dowling, who runs the business with daughter Sam, said he was "extremely surprised" to be targeted by thieves.
The company has upgraded security substantially since the theft and is trading as normal. "Our customers have been very supportive," Mr Dowling said.
Shampoos, medication, collars and leads worth several hundred pounds were also taken in the break-in.
