BICYCLING brothers handed over more than £500 to a Kidderminster diabetes clinic after completing a two-wheeled marathon in France.
Paul and Brian Gilliver took on the 1,200km trip from Paris to Brest and back again in August after reading about the Wyre Forest Centre for Diabetes and Education in the Shuttle/Times & News.
The clinic - which opened at Kidderminster Hospital in March to treat diabetics and help them and health care professionals cope with the condition - needs money for equipment such as an overhead projector and computers.
Paul, 43, and his 34-year-old brother - both of Stourport - together raised £564. The pair decided to help the clinic after their 12-year-old nephew Lee Matthews contracted the condition earlier his year.
"That was the driving force for me to do it the second time. I'd already done it once. I knew what to expect - I just needed the incentive to raise money for the diabetic clinic," said Paul, who pedalled the distance in just 75 hours.
His brother covered the kilometres in 82 hours.
The clinic will hold a diabetic workshop for the public on Tuesday at 7pm at the hospital's Postgraduate Medical Centre.
A dietician and chiropodist will be on hand to answer questions while a video on the insulin pump will be shown.
