THE October Pleasure Fair, as now the Alvechurch Mop may be more appropriately called, was held on Wednesday in the Crown Meadow.
One of the chief features of the mop was the hiring of farm servants but like many other ancient customs, it has disappeared.
There were plenty of attractions, however, and a good influx of visitors.
During the day, the annual cattle sale was held in the sale yard at the Red Lion Hotel.
