REDDITCH Nightstop has gained two new clients just one month after the launch of a project to tackle homelessness in the town.
The Advertiser reported in September Nightstop and St Basil's Floating Support had launched the service, which offers 16 to 25 year olds a room with a host family and then provides them with their own accommodation.
Shoppers and visitors were invited to talk to staff from St Basil's and Nightstop, which are both based at the Ecumenical Centre but continue to operate as two separate organisations, as well as volunteer hosts and young people who are now in their own accommodation.
Nightstop co-ordinator Gill Groom said: "One client came from an agency that had not previously referred to us and the other had thought about getting floating support but did not know how to access it.
"The success of our work is dependent on the relationship built between clients and ourselves and it is working very well at the moment."
She added: "We are also excited at the news of securing funding to start group work with any young person that has faced or may face homelessness.
"This group will be looking at the whole process of leaving the family home and arriving in independent accommodation."
