SEPTEMBER was a busy month. The first of the meetings to be held at the new sister branch at Mendip House took place on September 8.

The Wave of Prayer was observed on September 10 when members of St Luke's branch, Headless Cross, shared worship.

The Sunday service in St Leonard's Church on September 21 saw six new members admitted to the union and the Mendip House branch commissioned by Joyce Bush, diocesan president.

Following the service, there were homemade cakes for sale to raise funds for Mothers' Union projects.

A literature stall was set up in the Tapestry Room where cards, booklets and small gifts could be bought.

The evening meeting, which followed the next day, gave Liz Smith, a popular speaker, the chance to share her thoughts on The Way Ahead, the Rayburn and the Microwave.

She compared the traditional (Rayburn) with the new (microwave) ways of meeting challenges, emphasising there was great value in the wealth of experience and that work at grassroots level is of paramount importance.

A bring-and-buy table and raffle were also held to boost funds. October meetings are at Mendip House on October 13 at 2pm and St Leonard's on October 27 at 7.30pm.
