Mr C O'Brian has a right to feel angry about youngsters breaking windows at the new Matchborough First School (Letters, September 10).
Matchborough in particular has had more than its fair share of the problems caused by antisocial behaviour.
Part of the ongoing bus problem was caused by vandals' actions around Matchborough Centre giving the bus company a reason to withdraw its services from key routes in the area.
New antisocial behaviour legislation has been introduced by the Labour Government, making action against such behaviour easier to implement. Since the change, at least six Anti Social Behaviour Orders have been served in the Matchborough area.
We now have to look at preventative measures also to help stop the problem at its roots. I remember growing up in the 1960s having a choice of youth clubs I could attend, football, table tennis and other sports teams I could be part of and free swimming and bus passes I qualified for.
We need to take stock of what we offer our youngsters to help them through their adolescence.
