ALVECHURCH Sports and Social Club is set to take on the Villa in a charity football match to raise funds to send 10-year-old twins on a trip of a lifetime.

Club members have been fund-raising to raise £5,000 to send Abbie and Becky Potter, who have cerebral palsy, to Florida - where they will visit Disneyworld and swim with dolphins.

The club's football team is playing an Aston Villa Old Stars team in a charity match on Sunday as part of the campaign to raise cash for the Florida Fund.

Organising committee member Karl Farrell said: "A lot of club members have met Becky and Abbie and there is a lot of love and goodwill towards the girls - not only in the club but in the village.

"As a Blues supporter I take my hat off to the Old Stars for what they have done over the years in terms of fund-raising and I will be applauding them on the day."

The match will be held at Alvechurch FC's Lye Meadow stadium, Redditch Road. Kick off is 2pm and entrance is £2.50.

Parking in and around the ground is limited and Alvechurch residents are advised to walk but other parking is available at Alvechurch Sports and Social Club or the car park behind the Red Lion pub in the centre of the village.
