A FENCER is following in the footsteps of his sister and two brothers as he aims to reach the pinnacle of the sport.

Chris Taylor, aged 15 and a pupil at Bromsgrove School, is currently ranked fourth on the U17s Epee list and as a result has been selected, along with Matthew Edgar, for the Great Britain squad to compete in Bonn, Germany, on November 15.

And if he is in the top three at the end of the season he will be named in the GB team for the world youth championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Chris is currently eight per cent behind third place with another year at U17s level to go.

Yet Chris, the youngest of four children, is not the first in his family to achieve success in fencing. His older sister Naomi, aged 17, is the current Bromsgrove School captain and has already fenced in the England youth team with two different weapons.

Chris' eldest brother Matt was the Worcester Road school's fencing captain and went on to captain Manchester University.

His next brother, Doug, was also school captain and was selected for the England youth team twice.
