MEDALS, sweets and certificates were presented to Rubery tots who had taken part in a reading scheme over the summer holidays.
Thirty-four children received their reading maze awards at a prize-giving session at Rubery Library in Library Way on Monday afternoon.
The scheme ran during the summer holidays and youngsters had to read at least six books to qualify for the award.
Members of the white watch fire crew from Bromsgrove called in to present the children with their awards but were quickly called away on a job.
Senior library assistant Sally Albutt said: "After the presentation all the children went outside to look at the fire engine but after a few moments it was called away."
