A GENEROUS removal firm helped move staff, patients and everything but the kitchen sink from a Bromsgrove hospice to a temporary home, while building work takes place.

Pickfords offered to help the Primrose Hospice move from its site in St Godwald's Road, Finstall, to the Princess of Wales Hospital.

The hospice is relocating to the Churchview bungalow at the Stourbridge Road hospital for six weeks while work takes place revamping the current building.

Although Churchview bungalow meets all the appropriate care standards, the hospice needed to take its own furniture and equipment.

Clive Johnson, spokesman for Birmingham-based removal firm Pickfords, said: "When we were approached by Primrose staff to help them move out, we were more than happy to support this very worthwhile charity."

Hospice nurse manager Libby Mytton said: "Unfortunately it is necessary for us to move out for the comfort and safety of our patients while the building work takes place. Obviously, we are very grateful to Pickfords for their generous offer of help."

More than half a million pounds is being spent building an extension to the Primrose Hospice, which offers care and support to cancer patients and their families.

The building work also includes refurbishment of the current facilities, which is a former Victorian rectory.
