LOVE and the beautiful game are the main ingredients of a new play, which kicks off at Droitwich Spa theatre tomorrow (Thursday) night.

Coming-of-age comedy Gregory's Girl starts its three-night run at the Norbury Theatre and audiences are guaranteed a good time.

The Norbury Youth Theatre is staging the production under the direction of 21-year-old Pamela Douglas, with almost all of the parts being snapped up by minors.

Eighteen-year-old Robert Beddall, from Wychbold, stars as hapless teenager Gregory, who falls for football mad Dorothy, played by Amy Ridge, 15. Sophie Donnison, from Droitwich, plays Susan, the girl secretly trying to win Gregory's heart.

Audiences may remember the hilarious silver screen version of the play starring Scottish actor John Gordon Sinclair as Gregory. Director Pamela said the Norbury version is just as funny.

Tickets, at £5, are available from the Friar Street box office on 01905 770154.
