KINGS Norton went top of North Midlands One after an emphatic victory over Cleobury Mortimer.

Cleobury - making their first ever visit to Ash Lane - were simply outclassed by Kings Norton who made six squad changes to last week's win over Woodrush.

But despite camping in the opposition's half for the first 25 minutes the Ash Lane men struggled to capitalise from the amount of possession their stronger forwards provided.

They finally slipped into gear after Graham Garret crashed through Cleobury's defence to score his first league try and captain Pete May converted.

From there the floodgates opened and the Kings began to put together some excellent rugby with flanker Richard Revell scoring two quick tries as the Cleobury pack reeled under the relentless efforts of the home unit.

A brief foray into the King's half caught the home side defence napping and were caught offside in front of the posts to allow Cleobury to kick over the three points.

But the Kings were in no mood and winger Tom Howell-Jones went in for a debut try which was converted and full back John Heffords also went under the posts after a blistering run which mesmerised the Cleobury defence.

Not to be outdone, right winger Pete Noonan ran in the last score.

Kings travel to unbeaten Bishops Castle for their next game. Man of the match - Andy Williams
