ALCESTER travelled to Pershore on Saturday and brushed aside their second XV after scheduled opponents Warley were in cup action.

After being beaten the last two weeks it was a welcome return to winning ways for Alcester - although Pershore make the visitors work.

Vince Young got Alcester on the scoresheet first with a well-worked try before scrum half Chris Hall added a second converted by Tom Heneghan.

Alcester winger Owen Phillips made sure of another try for the visitors.

The second half started in a similar pattern, Alcester had steadied the scrum on their own ball and the dangerous-looking Hall revelled in the service he was getting .

And it did not take long until he added his second try and putting Alcester on track to a big score.

But the Birmingham Road team let their opponents back into the game and the home side scored a deserved try, which was duly converted.

Pershore continued to press and it was against the run of play when Alcester put the game beyond doubt.

Phillips ran in his second try and Heneghan added his second conversion of the half and his third overall.

But Pershore had the last laugh and had their second try before the final whistle.

Man of the match was Vince Young.
