DEAR EDITOR -- Well done Norton! Excellent work on suspending Councillors Doyle, Lammie and Psirides. I mean, who were they to start suggesting that the general public have a say in the future of Bromsgrove?
Why should the public have any say? We don't know anything, us peasants, so it's far better that you all-knowing, all-powerful, super-human politicians make our minds up for us.
Goodness, we might start asking for things like inquiries and scrutinies into town and district plans, environmental hazards, contracts and declarations. That would never do.
The suspension was a brave move and it certainly showed the other councillors, didn't it? They won't cause any trouble now, will they?
They know you can suspend them at will if they do. It will have them trembling in their beds and towing the party line.
You've scored a triple whammy.... You've hushed the perpetrators of democracy. You've kept the rest of those pesky councillors at bay by demonstrating what could happen to them and you've impressed the whole council and town with your dazzling display of power, wisdom and judgement.
No, Mr Norton, you keep on as you are. After this, no-one will ever dare question you again, and they will certainly be too scared to challenge your leadership.
