DEAR EDITOR -- I note that a Chief Constable of a neighbouring police force is calling on the public to use their citizen's power of arrest to catch criminals, in otder to assist the police with their minimal resources.
I trust that his counterpart who covers the Bromsgrove area won't be making such a suggestion, as presumably the local force has more than enough resources in their quest to reduce crime.
Otherwise local officers would not have the time to wait at out of town 'take-aways' on a Saturday night, while motorists spend five minutes collecting pre-ordered meals having parked on double-yellow lines
The explanation given when the Fixed Penalty Ticket was issued was that the officer was 'between jobs.'
Most enlightening to find out how our council tax is spent!
If this particular type of 'crime' is the target of the month, can I suggest the High Street near Macdonalds (Saturday nights) or the stretch of New Road, Aston Fields, between Rigby Lane and Stoke Road (any weekday between 8.30am and 5.30pm) - where real obstruction and danger is caused.
Well done officer on your strategy for improving police-public relations.
