CLIFF Hughes has resigned as manager of Fairfield Villa after 14 years at the helm.
Hughes, formerly a player at the Recreation Ground for ten years, called time on his post last Monday following a holiday in America.
He had thought about resigning before jetting off but opted to think about his position while away and decided to stand down.
Villa are currently 12th in Midland Combination division one, having won just three of their nine league games in a disappointing start to the season. They have also lost two consecutive cup matches.
Club secretary Charlie Harris said: "We would like to thank him for his service to the club.
"We regret that he's going but I think he just felt he's taken us as far as he can."
Villa now go in search of a new boss. Anyone interested can call Charlie Harris on 07880 777673 or chairman Paddy Eades on 07989581418.
