JAMES Train is proving a chip off the old block after representing Britain in the marathon canoeing world championships in Spain.
The Pershore High School pupil, ranked number one for his U18 age group in Britain, has canoeing in the blood.
Dad Steve and uncle Andy have been to five Olympics, notching sixth place in the sprint twosomes in both Atlanta and Barcelona while also winning the Marathon World Championships three times.
Seventeen-year-old James from Fladbury and a member of Fladbury Paddle Club, finished sixth in Valladolid in a gruelling 1hr 50mins over the 22km but admits he had been hoping for a medal.
"It was a little bit disappointing but at that level it's how you perform on the day," he said.
The rigours of the sport see Train up at the crack of dawn for one of two training sessions before school, six days a week.
Train is aiming to follow in his father and uncle's footsteps with Bejjing 2008 his Olympic target.
For now Train is preparing for next year's assault on the World Championships in Norway and the Sprint European Championships in Poland.
