A JAPANESE water garden, waterfalls and aquariums filled with fish are among the attractions when Puccini's popular opera Madama Butterfly is staged at Birmingham's Alexandra Theatre on Friday and Saturday.
The traditional production, sung in Italian with English surtitles is performed by the Ukrainian National Opera of Odessa, and stars the international Japanese soprano Manami Hama and the UK-based Korean soprano Rosa Lee Thomas.
The story, used as the basis for the popular musical Miss Saigon, tells of an innocent geisha girl who falls for an American sailor with dramatic results.
Highlights include the moving aria One Fine Day, the Love Duet and the Humming Chorus.
Tickets are priced from £13.50 and are available on 0870 607 7535.
