TENSIONS within a Yorkshire town are explored in The Kerry Dance, being staged by Ledbury Amateur Dramatic Society.
The play opens at the Market Theatre, Ledbury, on Wednesday, October 15 and runs until the following Saturday, with performances at 8pm.
TV actor Jamie Firth, played by Freddie Hubbard, returns to his native West Riding town and recalls events of ten years previously.
The parish drama group sparks a love of the theatre in Jamie, who wants to study drama at RADA, which he knows will not be approved of by his Catholic Irish mother, Maureen (Marion Beeney).
He takes secret drama lessons with Margaret (Sue Embrey), a newly-arrived relief teacher, assignations which arouse the jealously of his girlfriend, Sarah (Carley Dashey).
Tickets cost £6 for adults, £4 for students from Ledbury Books and Maps or 01531 633226 or 633760.
