I WOULD like to echo comments made by Chas Perrett regarding Worcester's lack of an arts policy.
Many other cities comparable to Worcester seem to prioritise in encouraging cultural activities realising that not only does it enhance quality of life and education within an area but it also attracts visitors.
We need a Chris Jaeger (above) on the city council with the motivation to orchestrate an arts strategy for Worcester.
Surely a huge budget and full-time position is not necessary.
Hereford has shown us what can be done with good organisation during their "art week."
A glossy catalogue lists 92 exhibitions, galleries and open studios across the county that can be visited.
Should we be content to let Worcester live up to its reputation as a "sleepy hollow" with a passion for shopping centres and car parks?
BEV SCHOFIELD,
Worcester.
