ST Richard's Hospice will benefit from the international Voices for Hospices event tomorrow (Saturday).

Simultaneous concerts will be taking place around the world as part of the event, the time differences creating a rolling 'Mexican wave' of sound across 43 countries.

The St Richard's event will be at Pershore Abbey at 7.15pm and will take the form of a performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah. People are welcome to 'come and sing', with an afternoon rehearsal planned at 1.30pm at Abbey Park Middle School.

The soloists for the concert will be Christopher Foster, Yvonne Seymour, Jo Dwyer and Robert Forbes.

St Richard's director of fundraising Marilyn Peachey said: "The worldwide event has been taking place every three years since 1991.

"In 2000 over 200,000 people took part raising over £1 million for local hospices in 43 countries."

Admission to the concert is free, but donations are invited, and for more information ring 01386 553292 or 01905 451792.
