PUPILS and staff at Malvern Girls' College are aiming to raise £20,000 during their charity weekend.

Fundraising activities include auctioning a Stella McCartney dress, walking for 24 hours and attempting to break the record for the world's largest finger painting.

The girls have already produced a calendar of artwork to start the ball rolling on behalf of local and international charities.

Events start on Friday, October 17, with a short service before 24 intrepid walkers set out on a 24-hour trek.

"We're going to Ledbury and sleeping in a barn overnight," said 12-year-old Lydia Morris-Jones.

A fashion show with a musical theme will be held on the Friday and Saturday evenings. After the Friday show, pupils will be able to relax at a 60s and 70s disco with a huge karaoke screen.

Saturday brings a charity fair, to which members of the public are invited. The girls will be running a variety of different stalls including a 'think pink' stall, where every item is pink, and an international cafe with foods from six countries.

More than 1,000 plastic ducks will be put in the college pool so people can fish them out to win a prize. The day will end with a cabaret.

On the Sunday morning, pupils and staff aim to break the world record for finger painting by using their hands and feet to create a picture of the Malvern Hills more than 257 square metres long.

Events finish with an auction of promises in the afternoon, featuring the sale of the Stella McCartney dress, and a tea party.

The school holds its charity weekend every three years. Nominated charities are the International Red Cross, HomeStart, Malvern Hills Homeless Young Adults Trust and the Malvern Girls' College Gambia Project.

Calendars will be on sale at the charity fair and from the college reception.
