MALVERN Radar crashed out of the WFA Cup last Sunday at Victoria Park despite being level at half-time Wilden really turned it on in the second half and scored some well-worked goals.

MALVERN RADAR 1, WILDEN VILLAGE 5

It was fairly even for the first half hour and Radar took the lead when a great through ball from Andy Guyatt caused great confusion in the Wilden defence and Trevor Bagnall's shot took a slight deflection before looping into the net.

The Wilden keeper was injured in the melee and Radar must have fancied their chances as he certainly wasn't very mobile but he was hardly tested for the remainder of the game as his team mates slowly took control.

The visiting forwards were very lively and kept finding space in behind the Radar back four and only some athletic goalkeeping from Phil Birch kept them out until he was beaten in the 34th minute when Chris Mapp bundled the ball in at the far post with what may have been his hands, but the goal stood.

The second half was mainly one-way traffic and again Birch was kept on his toes making a number of good saves but he was unable to stop Jason Edney scoring two well taken goals and Matt Colley heading in from close range.

The best goal was probably the fifth when the excellent Paul Concannon burst through from the half way line and coolly slotted the ball into the corner of the net from 15 yards.

In what may be bad news for Radar, the two teams have been drawn together in the Infirmary Cup in November and they will certainly have to match their first half display if they are to come away with a win.

This Sunday Radar make the short trip to Lower Howsell Road where they take on local rivals Malvern Premiers, Radar players to meet at 10am at the ground.
