POWICK played top-of-the-table Coppertops at their Hospital Lane ground in the Worcester League Division One on Sunday.

POWICK 7, COPPERTOPS 2

The game started well for Powick and after nine minutes Phil Skilton found Chris Jones who cleverly lobbed the ball over the keeper from 20 yards. On 25 minutes Powick, playing good all round football, found Gary Henderson free in the centre of the park, he fed Bryan Craven who fired home an excellent volley.

Shortly after, Powick were awarded a free kick and this time it was Bryan Craven who crossed for Gary Henderson to head home at the far post. The last quarter of the first half Powick had plenty of possession and were pressing forward at every occasion. This resulted in a long clearance by Coppertops whose striker went through to score a fine goal. In injury time of the first half Gary Henderson got his second goal after good work by Stuart Fish and Steve Hadley.

In the second half Coppertops started with more purpose and soon scored their second goal.

In the 60th minute excellent work by Jamie Boswell and Luke Dunn allowed Stuart Hart to score. Powick, still full of running, scored another two goals, one for Phil Skilton and one for Gary Henderson to complete his hat-trick.

Men of the match was Gary Henderson and Luke Dunn.

Next Sunday Powick are away at Callow End in the Nursing Cup, kick off 10.30pm.
