MALVERN Town Wanderers welcomed near neighbours Malvern United for their latest encounter.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U15s 9, MALVERN UNITED U15s 0

Wanderers' started the stronger attacking at every possible opportunity. Micky Pearson broke the deadlock early on with a tidy finish from eight yards. Kris Denslow was on hand to crash home from a Micky Pearson rebound effort for number two. Luke Arnold grabbed number three as his awareness latched on to a back pass to make no mistake. Pearson claimed his second firing home after a defensive error. Kris Denslow's left foot centre picked out Luke Arnold whose fine header found the top corner for number five. A quality Matt Bayer free kick found Micky Pearson who drilled home to claim his hat-trick. Micky Pearson then grabbed his fourth and Wanderers' seventh striking home Luke Arnold's through ball.

In the second half fine build up play between Scott Roberts and Richard Pitt played in Luke Arnold to finish sharply for his hat-trick. The score was completed with a well-flighted Bruce Rogers corner met with a fine headed goal from Kris Denslow.

Man of the match, sponsored by Malvern Tree & Garden Services, was Micky Pearson.

SALFORD ROVERS 5, WELLAND JUNIORS U15s 2

WELLAND travelled to Salford with a depleted squad and without their first choice keeper but nevertheless played with total commitment and determination.

The opening exchanges were evenly contested but it was the home side that went ahead after 15 minutes. Welland fought back and excellent interplay between the forwards Joe Waldron and Russell Alderson resulted in the ball crossing the goal line only for it to be disallowed for an accidental hand ball offence.

This incident seemed to fire up Salford who scored twice more before Josh Fernie was felled in the area giving Martin Smith the opportunity to step up and score a ferocious penalty.

The home side spent the majority of the second half defending their lead with the home keeper making countless saves before Josh Fernie scored a headed goal from 10 yards out. It seemed like only a matter of time before Welland would score a well deserved equaliser but it just wouldn't come.

Instead the home team scored from the only two opportunities they created in the final 40 minutes and Welland ended up on the wrong end of a scoreline that flattered the opposition. Welland will have a chance to put things right when they travel to Salford in the first round of the cup.

Man of the match, sponsored by Dalkia Utilities Services, was Ollie Smith.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U14s 6, WORCESTER RANGERS U14S 0

WANDERERS raced into the lead in this Mercian Festival League match.

From the kick off the ball was passed out to Luke Borton on the right wing. He made ground and crossed to Luke Butler who hit the back of the net, all in 22 seconds. A few minutes later he scored again and Rangers were defending desperately but no one could stop Ollie Mason's great header from an expertly-taken Luke Borton corner.

In the second half it was more of the same. Chris Styles and Marc Heptinstall snuffed out any threat from the Rangers' forwards and then Calum Campbell, after several near misses, finally got a goal. Ryan Mansbridge headed in from a free kick and then provided the cross for Danny Stimson to complete the scoring.

LYPPARD RANGERS U13s 2, WELLAND U13s 4

WELLAND made a great start to this exciting game with Ben Fletcher scoring two early goals.

The first came from a lovely diagonal pass by Josh Lewis, the second headed in from an Andrew Jones corner. Lyppard then scored from a penalty before Will Brown restored the two goal advantage with a powerful shot from the edge of the area.

Just before the interval Welland keeper Barton Mathews made two fine saves to keep the score at 3-1.

For most of the second half determined defending by Allen, Haynes and Pugh kept Lyppard out but with ten minutes remaining they made it 3-2. This led to an exciting finish to the game as Lyppard pressed desperately for the equaliser. However Welland still looked dangerous on the break, Nathan Budd just wide with a lob from the edge of the area, before Cathal McTernan finished off a surging run with a precise shot past the keeper.

Everybody played well for Welland but midfielders Fain and Davison were particularly influential with Luke Fain just shading the man of the match award.

DROITWICH PANTHERS U13S 1,

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U13S 4

WANDERERS visited Droitwich and came away with a well-earned three points.

Wanderers attacked from the off, and were unlucky to have a goal ruled out in the first minutes for offside. Fifteen minutes later a quick throw-in resulted in a well taken goal by Wanderers' James McCann. However a few minutes later Panthers came back with a goal by Young, after Wanderers failed to clear. Wanderers kept up the pressure and Sam Pead scored a typical poacher's goal. Panthers fought back and only a great save by Callum White prevented an equaliser.

The 50th minute saw substitute Kyle Gibbs score a cracking goal from a 20-yard free kick. Five minutes from the whistle a snap shot gave James McCann his second goal and finished off a good all round team display.

WORCESTER RAIDERS U13s 1,

NEWTOWN SPORTS JUNIORS U13s 6

NEWTOWN travelled to Worcester and on a bumpy pitch came away comfortable winners.

A strong run by Craig Preece saw him lay the ball through to Josh Butler who rounded the keeper and put the ball into an empty net for the first. Butler grabbed Newtown's second when he was put clear by Lee Gittens. Further opportunities were squandered including a penalty before Lee Mason added a third just before half time.

The second half continued the same as the first with Newtown applying the pressure, but it was Worcester Raiders who netted first. A poor clearance from a goal kick went straight to their striker who neatly lobbed Chris Spicer in goal. Good work by Iain Puffett on the left produced a cross which Oliver Lean headed in for the fourth. Butler returned the favour to Preece to score his first and Preece scored his second when his determination saw him drive the ball home from close range.

On Sunday Juniors are away to Littleton. Players meet at Lower Howsell at 1.15pm.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U12s 9,

BROMYARD TOWN JUNIORS U12s 2

SUNDAY'S league meeting between these two teams was a dress rehearsal for their meeting in the cup in a couple of weeks.

Malvern took the lead early in the first half when Josh Asquith's pass found Jack Bottomley, who calmly slotted the ball in to the net. Minutes later Douglas Howie doubled the home team's advantage but Bromyard responded and reduced the arrears when Williams Gallagher scrambled the ball home from a corner. A slide rule pass from Alex Wren split Bromyard's defence to release Josh Asquith who lobbed the keeper. Juniors pressed forward and were back in the match when a mix up in the Wanderer's defence allowed Adam Goodchamp to score. Just before half time a superb volley by Douglas Howie from a corner made it 4-2.

In the second half Wanderers' keeper Ben Wheeler marshalled the defensive trio of Jack Daniels, Chris Webb and Matt Downes who combined well to nullify a strong Bromyard attack. Josh Asquith scored again and then completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot after a hand ball.

Harry Blood's cross enabled the prolific Douglas Howie to complete his hat-trick before Howie set up Max Whittle to score a terrific goal. Alex Scullion's lethal cross was then despatched into the net by Harry Blood just before the final whistle.

NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS U13S 7,

OLDBURY PARK TIGERS 0

NEWTOWN Sports Colts turned in another polished performance, this time against Oldbury Park Tigers.

Playing some attractive football, the Colts took an early lead when Twinberrow laid the ball back for Hale to strike a perfect shot from 18 yards. Playing with increased confidence, the Colts dominated the proceedings with Caffull, Jaye and Hale were having excellent games in the midfield, and Powell and Edwards providing great width. Jaye increased the lead when he headed home an excellent corner from Edwards. Elmes nearly got his name of the score sheet from another Edwards' corner, but it was Powell who struck the third with his right foot following a melee in the box. Oldbury threatened once or twice, but Roskams, Elmes and Scullion showed great composure in defence.

In the second-half, Crane and Allison came on for the Colts who continued to look for goals. The Colts grabbed another four through Twinberrow (twice), Buckle and Allison. Johnson, in the Colts, goal was called upon a couple of times as the Colts, who are sponsored by Alan Gath Enterprises, lost a little shape.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS U9S 1, WORCESTER RANGERS EAGLES U9S 2

WANDERERS U9s Colts travelled to Little Perdiswell for an eventful league debut.

Worcester Raiders Eagles started strongly, but the firm defensive line-up of Brandon Hudson and Myles Cunningham worked well until the home team scored from a free kick. Three minutes later the equaliser came as Malvern scored with a powerful shot from Tom Busher after receiving an inch-perfect pass from Stan Mason. The defensive strengths of Alex Williams and Callum Bradford held the half-time score at 1-1.

In the second half, Joel Wright, Harry Tawse and Josh Seabourne produced more attacking football but, despite this, Eagles scored a second goal over the head of Malvern's hard-working goalie, Max Howie.

In the closing moments, Malvern were unlucky not to score from a corner.
