A MALVERN charity celebrated its expansion into Worcester with an unusual lorry ride on Saturday morning.

Malvern Special Familes enlisted the help of strongman Russ Bradley to push a group of families towards Worcester in a lorry.

Frances Innes, co-ordinator for the charity, which helps families who have a child with additional needs, said the event, held in a lay-by off Cockshot Road, had been a huge success.

"Everything went well, really well. We had a good turnout of families and it was nice to meet Russ," she said.

Mr Bradley has been Britain's strongest man four times and is also British strength coach.

Malvern Special Families decided to expand into Worcester after receiving phone calls from families in the city asking if they could get help.

The charity received money from social services to enable Worcester families to access its services which include home visits, family support, a bi-monthly news letter, Christmas party and summer barbecue.

The official launch of the Worcester project will be held at a coffee morning on Wednesday at the Worcester Guildhall.
